Iran’s World Cup participation contingent on team safety in the US

Iran’s football team is preparing for the FIFA World Cup, but its participation hinges on government approval regarding player safety in the United States, as stated by Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali. Amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, including a fragile ceasefire with the U.S., the Iranian Football Federation has requested a change in tournament location, but FIFA insists all matches will occur as scheduled. The team’s training camp is set to begin on May 10, with their opening match against New Zealand on June 15.
