Hungary to oppose EU loan to Ukraine over oil issue

Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto declared that Hungary will not yield to “blackmail” after Ukraine halted oil flows through the Druzhba pipeline, prompting Hungary to block a €90 billion EU loan for Ukraine until shipments resume. Following a drone attack that damaged the pipeline, Hungary announced plans to tap into strategic reserves to address oil shortages. Despite MOL’s ability to source non-Russian oil via the JANAF pipeline, Slovakia also declared an oil emergency, pledging to release 1.825 million barrels for its refineries.
