In 2024, over 70 countries held elections, including EU parliamentary elections in 27 European Union members, with a total population of around four billion people. The five most populous countries that voted were India, United States, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Notable elections included Kais Saied’s re-election in Tunisia with low turnout, Paul Kagame’s fourth term in Rwanda with high turnout, and Uruguay’s left-wing Broad Front victory with Yamandu Orsi as the new leader.
