Heineken and Maritime and Mercantile International are set to open the Gulf’s first large-scale brewery in Dubai through their joint venture Sirocco, aiming to meet the growing demand for beer in the region. With brands like Heineken, Kingfisher, and Amstel being produced at the facility, the project is expected to employ 190 people and be completed by 2027. As restrictions on alcohol sales continue to ease in the UAE and other Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, the move towards local production is part of a broader effort to diversify economies and attract more tourists to the region.
