The Kallos Gallery in London has withdrawn an ancient Greek amphora from sale following evidence linking it to a notorious smuggler, after concerns were raised by an expert in the illegal trade of antiquities. The black-figure amphora, dating back to around 550BC, was removed after the Observer contacted the gallery about the issue, highlighting the need for dealers to take more proactive measures to prevent the illicit trade of ancient artifacts.
