Germany may force draft unless army volunteers increase

Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has indicated that the country may reinstate compulsory military service if a new volunteer enlistment program fails to meet recruitment targets. In an interview, he outlined plans for the revamped military service model, which aims to strengthen the army ahead of a potential new military service bill expected by January 2026.
