Gaza flotilla activists report abuse and sexual assault in detention

Organizers of the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla report that released foreign activists faced severe abuse, including at least 15 incidents of sexual assault, while in Israeli detention. Following the abduction of around 430 participants from international waters, many activists were hospitalized for injuries, prompting investigations in Germany and Italy into possible crimes such as kidnapping and torture. Israel’s prison service has denied these allegations, asserting that all detainees are treated according to the law.
