Victims Address Howard Temple at Sentencing for Sex Offenses

The disgraced former leader of the West Coast sect Gloriavale, Howard Temple, has been sentenced to over two years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple sex offences against girls and women spanning more than 20 years. In court, he requested a sentence of home detention but faced Judge Raoul Neave, who described the charges as “excruciating” for the victims. Temple admitted to 12 charges involving six girls earlier this year. The case highlights severe abuses within the sect.
