The suspect in the Florida State University shooting, Phoenix Ikner, 20, was denied bond during his court appearance following the April 17 incident that resulted in two deaths and six injuries. Ikner, charged with two counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder, was appointed a public defender and is prohibited from contacting victims’ families and witnesses. After recovering from multiple surgeries for a gunshot wound to his face, Ikner was transferred to a different detention facility due to a conflict of interest involving his stepmother, a sheriff’s deputy.
