AI is the hottest topic of conversation these days. At Cisco Live EMEA in Amsterdam in early February, AI was everywhere. Despite the useful applications and practical downsides of AI, it is crucial to approach the conversation with your CIO or CEO before investing in it.
Here are five key considerations to keep in mind as you navigate the AI conversation:
Determine your AI strategy
Instead of asking about your company’s AI strategy to inform various stakeholders, focus on how AI can enhance existing functions within the company. Ask questions like “how can AI improve our customer service strategy?” or “how can AI enhance our R&D strategy?”
Consider partnering for AI capabilities

Demonstrate how AI investments can benefit the core business by generating revenue, fueling growth, reducing risk, cutting costs, or optimizing resources. Align AI initiatives with business objectives to secure funding.
Be creative with your AI training and hiring

Take a conservative approach to AI implementation by starting with internal projects, setting clear usage guidelines for employees, and ensuring you have the right talent in place. Collaborate with partners if needed and explore how AI can enhance employee and customer experiences.
