Google is facing accusations that it automatically opts Gmail users into a feature allowing access to their emails to train its AI, Gemini. Electronics engineer Dave Jones highlighted that users must manually disable ‘Smart Features’ in two settings to prevent this access, which includes personal and work messages. Google has responded, stating that these claims are misleading, affirming that it does not use Gmail content for training AI and that users retain ownership of their email data. A lawsuit claims that the Gemini AI program violates privacy laws by tracking personal communications without consent.
