Edinburgh and Leeds will host the opening stages of the men’s and women’s Tour de France in 2027, with the UK Government promoting it as “the most accessible major sporting spectacle ever held in Britain.” The Grand Departs will allow 60% of the population to spectate for free along over 900km of public roads. The men’s race starts in Edinburgh and ends in Carlisle, while the women’s event begins in Leeds and concludes in London. Key stages include a 184km men’s stage on July 2 and a women’s stage on July 30 through the Peak District.
