Mum killed disabled daughter and then took her own life

Marta Karos, 40, and her eight-year-old daughter Eleni Edwards, found dead at their home in Kersal, Salford, were victims of a tragic murder-suicide, ruled a coroner. Struggling with mental health issues, Karos, who was Eleni’s full-time caregiver due to her daughter’s severe disabilities, intentionally caused their deaths via carbon monoxide poisoning. Despite receiving support, Karos felt isolated and concerned about Eleni’s future care after her death. Her mother hopes their story will change perceptions of disabled children and their parents.
