Conservationists in London are working to protect the rare German hairy snail, a species listed as a priority in the city’s biodiversity plan. Led by Citizen Zoo and the Zoological Society of London, surveys are being conducted along the Thames to assess the snail’s distribution and habitat. This finger-sized mollusc, which has lived in the UK for thousands of years, is now limited to a few sites. The project aims to safeguard not only the snail but also other species in London’s waterways.
