Sinisa Karan wins 50.89 percent of the vote, while his main rival Branko Blanusa gets 47.81 percent, preliminary results show.

Sinisa Karan, an ally of former Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik, has won the snap presidential election in Republika Srpska with 50.89% of the vote, while opposition candidate Branko Blanusa received 47.81%. Karan pledged to continue Dodik’s policies and aims to strengthen the region’s institutions. The election was necessitated by Dodik’s ousting due to his separatist actions, with a general election scheduled for next October. The SDS party plans to contest the results, citing irregularities.
