European allies presented their peacekeeping plans for Ukraine at a summit in London, aiming to position themselves as mediators between Kyiv and the White House after a public attack on President Zelenskyy. The U.K. proposed a “coalition of the willing” to provide peacekeeping troops in case of a peace deal, with plans to present the proposal to the U.S. and work towards securing Washington’s support. European leaders, including the U.K. and France, also suggested a one-month truce between Ukraine and Russia to test Russia’s commitment to future peace talks, amid efforts to assert Europe’s role in the peacemaking process.
