An Auckland mother, Lia Milich, tearfully reunited with Anna Evans, a Hato Hone St John emergency call handler who assisted in delivering her baby boy, Luka Ariki Peter Milich, over the phone in a bathroom. Evans traveled from Christchurch to meet the 7-day-old boy, sharing an emotional and joyful visit with the family. The call took place on April 29 when Lia began experiencing mild contractions, unaware that she was in active labor.
