An Edmonton defence lawyer, Samantha Labahn, has filed a judicial complaint against Justice Gordon Hatch after he ordered her 36-week pregnant client, Cinda Doyle, to be jailed for arriving late to court on income assistance fraud charges. Though Hatch eventually released Doyle, Labahn criticized his actions as punitive and indicative of a troubling pattern among certain judges in central Alberta.
