One person has died in an avalanche while backcountry skiing near Joffre Peak in British Columbia’s Sea-to-Sky region. Pemberton RCMP were alerted to a missing skier around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, and the individual was later found deceased by search and rescue teams. This incident marks the fourth avalanche-related fatality in B.C. this season, following a series of warnings about increased avalanche risk in the area due to recent storms. Avalanche Canada has indicated that considerable avalanche danger remains across southwest B.C.
