A federal court blocked the Trump administration from sending three Venezuelan immigrants held in New Mexico to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base as part of an immigration crackdown. The detainees were falsely accused of connections with the Tren de Aragua gang, prompting their lawyers to request a temporary restraining order, which was granted by Judge Kenneth J. Gonzales. The lawsuit was filed by the Center for Constitutional Rights, the ACLU of New Mexico, and Las Americas Immigrant Advisory Center, amidst concerns about the use of Guantanamo as a detention facility for immigrants.
