Algeria’s football federation apologized to Congolese superfan Michel Nkuka Mboladinga, who became a sensation at the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Morocco by dressing as Patrice Lumumba, standing still in tribute. Following Algeria’s victory over DR Congo, player Mohamed Amine Amoura faced backlash for mocking Mboladinga, prompting him to issue an apology. Mboladinga was later invited by the Algerian Football Association to meet the team and received a jersey with “Lumumba” on it. Despite DR Congo’s exit from the tournament, Amoura expressed respect for the team and hopes for their World Cup qualification.
