Southampton, under Russell Martin, clinched a quick promotion back to the Premier League by defeating Leeds United in the 2024 Championship play-off final with a goal from Adam Armstrong.
Armstrong scored his 24th goal of the season in the 24th minute at Wembley Stadium, capitalizing on a pass from Will Smallbone to beat goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
Despite Leeds’ 90 points accumulated during the season, they fell short in the crucial match against Southampton.
