M5 closed after 17-year-old girl dies in collision

The M5 in Somerset is closed in both directions after a 17-year-old girl died in a collision between a pedestrian and a car near junctions 24 and 25. Avon and Somerset Police have informed the girl’s next of kin and made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. The road is expected to remain closed for repairs, with long delays and diversions in place as investigations continue.
