Police release CCTV of woman in pyjamas filling up fuel and leaving

Police are investigating a series of fuel thefts attributed to a woman driving a silver Audi, who was spotted filling up at multiple petrol stations without paying. The incidents occurred over the Easter weekend at Garej Ni in Pwllheli and Prysor Service Station in Trawsfynydd, with losses reported at around £50 and £56 respectively. Owners of the affected stations expressed their frustration, noting that such thefts are rare in their rural communities. North Wales Police are reviewing CCTV footage as part of their investigation but have yet to make any arrests. This comes against a backdrop of rising fuel prices linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Why It Matters

Fuel theft poses significant challenges for small businesses, particularly in rural areas where profit margins are already thin. The recent spike in fuel prices, which increased for nearly 50 consecutive days, has placed additional financial strain on these businesses. With petrol and diesel prices substantially higher than they were at the onset of the Middle East conflict, incidents like these not only affect the immediate financial health of gas stations but also highlight broader economic issues within the context of rising living costs.
