Bigger rebates considered amid rising electricity bills

Power prices in Mid Canterbury are set to increase by $15 a month next year, following the Commerce Commission’s decision to allow higher investment in the electricity network. EA Networks, considering raising rebates to offset the hike, highlighted that not all retailers pass on lower charges to customers. The company plans to maintain costs high, then rebate excess money back to consumers to benefit the community.
