“Balaclava-clad” thugs launched bricks through windows on a quiet street in Edinburgh leaving residents terrified last night.

Police have launched a probe after the incident happened on Broomhouse Way in the capital on Thursday. It’s understood several residents had bricks thrown at their windows in the middle of the night.

An image from the scene, shared with Edinburgh Live, showed one resident’s window completely smashed. The homeowner was left with a gaping hole in one of their windows and were forced to stay up during the night until it was made secure.

It’s believed those responsible were seen in the area wearing balaclavas shortly before the incident. No arrests have yet been made and police say their enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.20pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024 officers received a report of vandalism on Broomhouse Way, Edinburgh. Enquiries are ongoing.”
