Syria’s Government Receives US Support in Southern Region

The Syrian government is reportedly coordinating with the United States, believing that the US supports President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s efforts to control Jabal al-Druze, with conditions regarding Israel’s security and the safety of the Druze population. Following violent incidents in July 2025 that led to significant abductions and displacement, the government’s re-entry into Sweida remains undecided. A ceasefire between the Syrian government and the Kurdish-led SDF was recently extended amid ongoing tensions and military movements. The SDF accused the government of escalating conflict while asserting that dialogue with Damascus continues.
