Anthropic to Challenge Defense Department’s Supply Chain Risk Designation in Court

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei announced that the Defense Department has designated the company as a supply chain risk, a decision he plans to challenge in court. This designation follows threats from the Pentagon regarding Anthropic’s safeguards against mass surveillance and autonomous weapon development. Despite the designation, Microsoft confirmed it would continue using Anthropic’s AI technology for non-defense projects. Amodei noted ongoing discussions with the Pentagon to find compliant solutions.
