Africa: WHO Prequalifies The First Vaccine Against Mpox

The World Health Organization (WHO) has added the MVA-BN vaccine to its prequalification list as the first vaccine against mpox, aiming to increase access and reduce transmission. The approval is expected to aid in containing outbreaks in communities with urgent need. The assessment for prequalification was based on information submitted by Bavarian Nordic A/S and reviewed by the European Medicines Agency, following strict guidelines.
