Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., faced questions from ABC’s Jonathan Karl regarding a poll showing strong public support for requiring photo ID to vote, which Schiff argued would disenfranchise voters lacking necessary identification. Despite a Pew poll indicating significant backing for voter ID, Schiff maintained that such measures suppress voting rights, particularly for those without proper documentation. He criticized the SAVE Act, likening it to “Jim Crow 2.0,” and asserted that it would discourage voter participation. Sen. Chuck Schumer echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the discriminatory nature of such requirements.
