Meridian billing error incorrectly reports 470 customers as in arrears

Meridian Energy has issued an apology after nearly 500 customers were incorrectly marked as being in arrears, with this information automatically sent to two credit reporting agencies. The issue arose during the transition of around 450,000 customers to a new billing platform. Chief customer officer Lisa Hannifin acknowledged that the company failed some customers and has reported the incident to the Privacy Commissioner.
