British man jailed in Russia for 13 years after fighting in Ukraine

British man Hayden Davies, a former British soldier, was sentenced to 13 years in a Russian prison camp for being a paid mercenary in Ukraine. He admitted guilt to the charges and revealed he joined the International Legion for $400-500 a month to fight against Russian forces. The British government has condemned Russia’s treatment of prisoners of war, including Davies, who was captured in winter 2024 carrying a US-made assault rifle and ammunition.
