Vladimir Putin has welcomed Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine but has major reservations, setting conditions for a truce including addressing what he calls the “root causes” of the war. Keir Starmer accuses Putin of “playing games” and plans to form a coalition of countries to help provide security guarantees for any peace deal, urging Putin to stop delaying and agree to a ceasefire now to end the conflict. Boris Johnson also calls for action, stating that the world needs to see concrete steps towards peace rather than empty words and pointless conditions from Russia.
