The Netherlands has agreed to return 119 Benin Bronzes artifacts to Nigeria, looted by British soldiers in the late 19th century, in response to a request from Nigeria’s National Commission for Museums and Monuments. The objects, including human and animal figures, plaques, and royal regalia, will be returned following an assessment by a committee tasked with restitution of looted artifacts, marking the fifth time Dutch cultural institutions have returned objects based on the committee’s recommendation.
