Metro Vancouver vows changes as 12-person New Orleans trip revealed

Metro Vancouver CAO Jerry Dobrovolny acknowledged that the regional district approved a 12-member delegation to attend a major convention in New Orleans before clamping down on staff travel for professional development. Board chair Mike Hurley stated that Metro will rewrite policies for staff travel to ensure fiscal responsibility and improve staff training opportunities. Despite the halt on out-of-province professional development travel, Metro Vancouver allowed a delegation to attend the 2024 Water Environment Federation’s conference in New Orleans, with costs estimated at $4,000 to $5,000 per participant.
