In the wake of the Polytechnique massacre in 1989, survivor Nathalie Provost has been advocating for stricter gun control laws in Canada. It took over 30 years for the gun used in the shooting to be banned, leading Provost to call for further reinforcement of laws to restrict the circulation of assault-style weapons. Despite progress, Provost believes that there are still too many of these weapons in circulation under current regulations.

Juhl: Will Santa's letters to children be delayed by the strike at Canada Post?
Santa has a history of supporting unions since the Great Elven Uprising of 1884. Despite the Canada Post strike, he is expected to be prepared with pen and paper when letters from Canadian children start arriving in mid-November.
