Edmonton mayor initiating legal action for defamation

Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi has taken legal action against three individuals for allegedly spreading false claims of criminality and corruption against him, resulting in death threats and attacks. The individuals have circulated derogatory and libelous content, including sharing the location of Sohi’s home which was vandalized. Sohi plans to donate any proceeds from the legal action to combat disinformation and support under-represented communities in the democratic process.
