A British skier, Daniel Matthews, was rescued after being buried under 7ft of snow by a 1,300ft avalanche while skiing near Tignes in the French Alps. Unconscious for several minutes, he was found by friends six minutes later and managed to free his head after nine minutes. Despite the perilous experience, he described it as a thrilling adventure but acknowledged it was a poor decision to ski in dangerous conditions. Matthews emphasized the importance of proper equipment and safety awareness in avalanche-prone areas.
