A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 40s died following an altercation on Russell Street in North Shields. The woman sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics. A woman in her 50s has also been arrested for assisting the offender. Northumbria Police are investigating the incident and have urged the public to refrain from speculation while encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
