B.C. officers end search for grizzly after Bella Coola attack
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

B.C. conservation officers have ceased their search for a bear linked to a Nov. 20 attack on school children in Bella Coola, as forensic analysis showed four captured grizzlies were not responsible. The attack injured three children and a teacher during a field trip, and a total of eight bears were captured and relocated, with GPS collars for monitoring. The incident was deemed unusual by both conservation officials and the Nuxalk Nation, who have coexisted with grizzlies for generations. An information session hosted by the Nuxalk Nation was attended by over 100 community members, although details remain private.
