International immigration continues to drive Canada’s population growth, though the impact is declining as emigration rates rise and immigration levels fall, according to Statistics Canada. In the first quarter of 2024, 27,086 people emigrated, with predictors of emigration including the immigrant’s country of origin, lack of children, and education level, highlighting a complex interplay of factors influencing departure.
