North Korea detains three officials over warship launch accident, state media says

North Korea has detained three shipyard officials following an accident during the launch of a new 5,000-ton destroyer, where parts of the vessel’s bottom were crushed, causing it to tip. The detained include the chief engineer, construction head, and an administrative manager, with an investigation ongoing after Kim Jong Un labeled the incident a “criminal act.” Although state media downplayed the damage, satellite images revealed the ship lying on its side, and Kim criticized the accident as a result of “absolute carelessness,” indicating potential severe repercussions for those responsible.
