US says Sudan used chemical weapons in civil war

The US will implement new sanctions on Sudan due to its alleged use of chemical weapons in the civil war against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), effective June 6, according to the State Department. Sudan’s government dismissed the accusations as unfounded, while the conflict has resulted in over 150,000 deaths and widespread displacement. This move follows previous sanctions and comes amid allegations of UAE involvement in the conflict, which Sudan claims includes supplying arms to the RSF.
