Hamilton woman admits to crash that killed jockey Ngakau Hailey

A woman has pleaded guilty to careless driving causing the death of promising jockey Ngakau Hailey, who was riding a dirt bike during the incident at an intersection on July 9 last year. Amal Salad, 40, made her appearance in the Hamilton District Court and has been remanded on bail, with sentencing scheduled for next month. Hailey’s family is contesting the release of the court’s summary of facts detailing the crash.
