US Troop Withdrawals Amid Rising Tensions
According to The New York Times, hundreds of US troops have been withdrawn from the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and Bahrain, interpreted as a precaution against potential Iranian retaliation to a possible US attack. While forces have been removed from these bases, American troops remain in Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the UAE. Iran has warned that any US attack would make all American facilities in the region legitimate targets. Al Udeid is the largest US military base in the Middle East, hosting around 10,000 personnel.
