EU Designates Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps as Terrorist Organization

EU member states have agreed to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a “terrorist organization,” according to foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas. This decision, made during foreign ministers’ talks in Brussels, aligns the IRGC with groups like ISIS and Hamas. Kallas emphasized the need for Iran to release unjustly detained individuals and stated that the EU already has extensive sanctions against Iran. In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized the EU for exacerbating tensions and following U.S. directives.
