There is still an opportunity to participate in this year’s Chevron City to Surf fun run, aimed at raising funds for West Australians with disabilities. Last year, nearly 29,000 participants, the highest in a decade, helped raise over $500,000 for genU, which provides essential equipment and programs to enhance accessibility for people with disabilities. This year’s event is set for August 30, featuring 4km and 12km courses that conclude at City Beach Oval. The 7NEWS team, including presenters Ryan Daniels, Samantha Jolly, Angela Tsun, and Amelia Broun, will be participating, with many expressing excitement about the community impact and fun activities planned for the finishers, such as carnival rides and food stalls. The event begins in the city for the 12km run and at McLean Park in Floreat for the 4km.

Why It Matters

The Chevron City to Surf fun run has a significant history, showcasing community support and fundraising efforts for individuals with disabilities in Western Australia. The event has grown in participation and fundraising capabilities, reflecting an increasing awareness of disability issues. Funds raised contribute to vital programs that enhance the quality of life for those living with disabilities, highlighting the ongoing need for community involvement in social causes. The event not only promotes fitness but also fosters a sense of community solidarity and awareness surrounding disability accessibility.
