Turkish football clubs are rallying in support of an Istanbul protest scheduled for Thursday against the violence in Palestine, with leaders from Galatasaray, Trabzonspor, and Besiktas urging fans to join. Galatasaray Chair Dursun Ozbek described the Gaza situation as a “test of conscience for humanity,” while Trabzonspor’s Ertugrul Dogan criticized ongoing violence despite a ceasefire. The event, organized by the National Will Platform, will commence at 8:30 am local time at Galata Bridge. Civil society representatives highlighted the tragic civilian toll in Gaza, with over 70,000 deaths reported since October 2023.
