Syrian security forces arrested senior ISIS leader Taha al-Zoubi, also known as Abu Omar Tibiya, and killed another leader, Mohammed Shahada (Abu Omar Shaddad), during coordinated operations with an international coalition in the Damascus countryside. The raids, which followed extensive intelligence work, resulted in the seizure of a suicide vest and military weapons. Officials emphasized the operations as significant blows to ISIS, asserting a commitment to combat terrorism in Syria. The Syrian government formally joined the US-led coalition against ISIS in November 2023.
