EU Sanctions RSF’s Deputy Leader in Sudan

The European Union has imposed sanctions on Abdelrahim Dagalo, deputy leader of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), in a move to hold accountable those responsible for the ongoing atrocities in Sudan. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire as violence escalates, particularly following the RSF’s capture of El Fasher. The EU condemned the RSF for targeting civilians and committing human rights violations amid the civil war that has erupted since April 2023, leading to severe humanitarian crises.
